Course Description

This course will periodically feature helpful guidelines and tools for managers and supervisors.

The first entry - Note From the Boss - gained a lot of attention shortly after it was written by Michael Wade and posted on his Execupundit.com blog several years ago. It has been widely circulated on the Internet, particularly after being cited by Rowan Manahan and Seth Godin. It resonates with both "bosses" and employees.

The second entry is a form to assist in developing your Personal Action Plan; a document that can help to identify areas in need of improvement.

The third entry gives guidance on "Managing amid Chaos." It was developed after extensive contact with managers and supervisors who start their days with a plan and then find that they and their teams are swamped with changing priorities and pressing needs. The guidelines show how to "work in the rain."

I wrote The Career Manifesto several years ago and it was first published on Hugh MacLeod's Gaping Void blog. It has some hard-nosed bits of advice that all of us need to review.

The 17 "Don'ts" for managers and supervisors can greatly simplify your work life.

"7 Supervisory Myths" addresses some dangerous assumptions that can cloud supervisory judgment.

"7 Daily Goals" are simple but important reminders of what we should strive for every day.

"The Case of the Person Who Resigned or Was Fired" illustrates the challenge of communication in a sensitive moment.

I hope you enjoy these. Be sure to check back frequently. More additions are in the pipeline.
